Christmas Decorations

The wreath I made hanging on the front door.

The outside of our house lit up with Christmas lights. This was funny we didn't have a ladder to hang up the lights...Aaron got some hooks you hang up with a broom stick. He was a little too short in some places so he either stood on the roof of his car or on a chair. It doesn't look to ghetto, we love it! :)

Our beautiful Christmas tree, it looks really small with our big ceilings. I took some pictures in the dark with the tree lit up but they are not downloading on my computer for some weird reason...I will keep you posted!

It was so fun this year decorating for Christmas in our very own house, We can't wait for next year decorating with a little one around :)

Newphew #3

Omi holding her fourth grandchild. That was the first time I had seen him open his eyes :)

Granpa holding little Charlie.

Emily holding her precious son.

We are so excited to welcome Charlie into our family. We are so blessed to be his aunt and uncle. It is so fun having nieces and nephews we love each one of them so much. Before Thanksgiving we were really hoping that Emily would have the baby while we were home so we could meet little Charlie for the first time. We arrived Tuesday night to the Haslam household to tell everyone the exciting news that we were going to have a baby! Then after the exciting announcement Matt and Emily were off to the hospital. At about 12:40am we got the picture text of little Charlie. It was fun going the next day to see Jack meet his little brother for the first time and for us to see Charlie. It was great being able to go to the hospital because when Jack was born, Aaron and I were on a honeymoon to Kaui. We are so happy that mommy and Charlie continue to do well! Congratulations to the Roger Family!!!

Fire in the House!

There was a fire in our house! Well one we started ourselves in our fireplace. This was the first fire in the fireplace since we moved in. My mom and grandma were in town and it was a freezing day of shopping we thought it would be an awesome idea for Aaron to get some wood and start a fire. This might sound dorky but it was so fun and exciting having our very first fire in our fireplace. We can't wait until next weekend when we set up the Christmas tree, have a fire, listen to Christmas music and drink some hot chocolate! Now that will be a fun way to kick off the Holidays!

Putting in the Yard: Phase #2

Phase #2: Putting in the lawn. This was hard work not only did we lay the sod in a day but also had to prepare the soil. It actually worked out really nice it rained the two days before so the soil wasn't that bad to work with. We had to use the pick axe to loosen up the muddy soil, mix compost into the soil and then rake down the dirt as best we could. After all of that we were able to lay the bermuda sod down. Aaron laying down some sod. I'll admit it, I'm a weaklink that is why you don't see me picking up the sod. I was the sod cutter to make sure the sod fit perfectly where it needed to go. We had Zach come and help us lay down the sod. We were so grateful that he could come and help us out and anyways its good for teenage boys to help out with yard work.

The sod in the backyard.

Aaron and I relaxing after a hard days work! Man laying sod is hard work!!! Let's just say bermuda grass isn't the softest of grasses but its the best type for this climate.

The sod in the front yard.

Even though when you put in sod the first day it looks bumby with lots of lines, we are so excited to have a lawn. I woke up this morning and opened all the blinds and was so happy to see green outside our windows!

White and Blue

What do you think? A few months ago we had some friends come over and I told them that I was thinking about painting my table either white or black. She said that she saw a blue and white table in a magazine, I thought this would be perfect especially since I love the color blue. This table belonged to my parents and when Aaron and I moved to Lubbock they said we could have it. You can't tell but its rustic looking, we didn't paint lots of layers but only one to make it look old and rustic, we also sanded off some of the parts to make it look rustic as well. This week I put on the top coat (which was a clear coat to give it some protection from spills and such). At first I didn't know how this was going to turn out, but I actually love how it looks in our new kitchen!

Putting in the Yard: Phase #1 cont.

Putting in the sprinklers in the backyard.

POW:this stands for peace of work, I normally would use this to describe a student in my class who is having a hard day. In this situation, I am refering to putting in the sprinkler system and yes it is a POW !
Doesn't Aaron look like he is having tons of fun! Putting in the pipes and sprinkler heads was the easiest part especially since I was the "primer" girl (the funny thing is this was my job when I was a little girl helping my dad put in the sprinkler system). Aaron is working on hooking the wires to the main pipes and then hooking it to the control box. I am so greatful for a wonderful husband to do all of these things. That was another headache, trying to screw the box into our brick house, after about four holes in our brick that are very visible Aaron was able to hang the box. We plugged everything in and ran a few systems, the sprinklers seemed to be working fine but then on one of the front systems the valve was making a really strange noise. We adjusted things trying to see if things were loose and we decided to unplug the system and try again. We try to plug the system into the socket and it will not go in, we have tried everything, reseting the sockets, we tried plugging in other cords to see if they will go in, NOTHING!!! So we are going to call our builders and have them come check the problem out. That is why putting in the sprinklers is a POW!!!

We are very greatful that we have this oppurtunity to learn and grow about putting in the yard. Next Saturday, we are supposed to put in the sod, hopefully that will go alot smoother than everything else has been going. I will keep you posted!

Putting in the Yard: Phase #1

Aaron and I thought digging trenches would take only two hours using a trencher. Poor Aaron and Brad worked on the trenches all day and had to dig most of them by hand becuase the dirt was so hard due to that fact there has been no rain. I am very proud and thankful for the hard work they did this weekend. On Saturday we (well Debbie and I put the glue on the pipes) put the sprinklers together in the front yard. Aaron and Brad filled in the trenches and even tested the pipes to make sure they all worked. Aaron and I have a project to do this week, putting the sprinklers in the backyard.

Debbie, Aaron and Brad working really hard! A special thanks to Brad and Debbie for all their wonderful help. I absolutely love my in-laws they are AMAZAING!

Aaron and I will be glad when we can put the grass in and start working on the plants and trees. It will be nice when the front and backyard are completely done. I will keep you posted on the next phase :)

A little about Aaron

I absolutely love Aaron he is the perfect match for me. He just likes to do funny, crazy things all the time and then he always asks me to take a picture especially when it involves his body.

For those of you who know Aaron, know he loves growing his hair out and he likes to shave his beard in wierd styles. This is a constant battle between the two of us. I am one who loves clean shaven or a little scuff. That is why this "Franz Joseph" only lasted for a day just long enough so he could show his family on Sunday dinner. I will keep you posted on his next crazy facial hair stunt.

Aaron and I went swimming a few weeks ago with some friends. I put sunscreen on and so did Aaron but he was planning on wearing his shirt while we were swimming. Then last minute he decided to not wear his shirt so as you can see if got fried! He looks like a lobster! The good thing was it gave him a great base for Lake Powell. I also got sunburt but not as bad :) Poor Aaron he really was in alot of pain!

Aaron went paint balling one day and got 43 welts all over his body. First off he went paint balling in the middle of summer so he did not have much on to protect himself. Second he decided to be a hero and run out in the open to shoot four guys thinking they would run away and they shot him all over his body. Even though he was hurting pretty bad he came home and was so proud that he got shot the most and so of course he asked me to take a picture. Needless to say that is all everyone heard about for two weeks.

I love my pooky he always makes me laugh!
